So while gardening the other day, I was wondering to myself–why do I like working outdoors so much?  A couple ideas that came to mind:

    • Fresh air
    • Nature
    • Vibrant colors

But then I thought some more, and was able to draw a few parallels between gardening and my aspirations to be a doctor…

A gardener and a doctor should probably recognize that their line of work often requires them to get down and dirty (whether in dirt or in someone’s guts).  Despite the risks (whether it be creepy crawlies or diseases), the gardener or doctor has a job which they must complete.  Thus, a gardener and doctor would probably be best off wearing gloves, despite the inconveniences they create by being bulky…

Also, to be a good gardener or doctor, one must get down to the root of the problem, otherwise the problem might reoccur again, and often worse.  Like using antibiotics, if not all the weeds are eliminated, eliminating a couple might make it easier for the weeds that weren’t removed to proliferate better with less competition/more nutrients.

It might all be a stretch, but those were basically my thoughts while gardening, other than frustration at the number of weeds and occasional feelings of alarm when stumbling across earthworms (I was afraid I’d accidentally kill them while digging holes for planting flowers). pleased

  • TLC

Random 4:37 update, after random 4AM shower (hey, 4AM = hot water, baby!)

TLC–first thing that comes to mind:

    tlcracker

Tasty little cracker…-_- (I thought of this because I’m currently distracted from working on my lab write up, and we used TLCs, not the cracker kind, but despite using the chem version of TLC more often than I eat the food version of TLC, I always think of the food first.   That sentence was horribly constructed, but I need to get back to work in like a few seconds.)

TLC-chem version (thin layer chromatography) would be the second thing to come to mind when seeing TLC.

But apparently I should associated it with a crazy amount of other things.  Wikipedia has a huge disambiguation page for TLC:
    TLC

Maybe the reason I think about food before chemistry is because I’m hungry right now but I need to keep working..who knows, maybe a few years from now “total lung capacity” or “total lymphocyte count” may trump “tasty little cracker” in my immediate association with with the acronym/initials/letters [?] TLC.

Yay, almost weekend, so I can actually catch up on Xanga stuff soon!! (:!  I’ve missed reading in detail…sigh.

    (Brief study break O_~)

So when I was really young, one of my first piano teachers used to have these incentive charts that she would give us, and with each week of good practice, or good job with music theory, etc. we would earn a little sticker to put in one of the cells.  After filling a certain number of rows or sheets (I can’t really remember), we would be able to exchange it for some music related goodies, whether they were little paper clips with music notes, or other oddities (i.e. miniature music dictionary/pamphlet).  It was really exciting for me as a kid!

So yesterday on my trip to Target with my roomie Christina & friend Miloni, I found this in the dollar section:

The incentive chart for piano lessons weren’t as wide, but was longer (maybe a 5×5 chart).  But this made me really excited so I got some for myself.  (I know, lame! I am how old?)

Well, check out my current chart (parents will approve, though maybe only partially):

I probably shouldn’t motivate myself with food, but you gotta do what you gotta do for a Klondike bar! ;) (just kiddin’! Sort of.)  I actually haven’t hit up the gym yet this semester, so it’s not like I can add any stickers yet.  Not to mention there are no Klondike bars in the fridge (no! I did not eat them already/prior to making chart!  Though maybe after next time I go to the groceries there will be…).

As a kid, I loved perspective.  I had this habit, during nap time, to stare at the corners of the wall/ceiling:

& try and see it as an extruding and intruding cube.  I liked playing tricks on my eyes and head.

I made a poster today.  Yay, orgo exam (Monday; all orgo kids are in a frenzy at the present; except those who are going to the football game–what the heck!?)

For some reason I’ve been getting a lot of “likes” for my Facebook status:

“Probably high off of Sharpie fumes, but is making a miniature/beautiful orgo poster! :) !”

Back to studies, after I eat :D !
