Pi Day!

(Made banner in 'o8 n_n)I can't remember what I did for pi day last year; but the year before that was HS senior year, and I celebrated with our little Mu Alpha Theta group; we had a ton of pie varieties, and I got to see my friend Sam, who I rarely hear from these days. A misc memory from that day was when we were leaving and he couldn't hold the door for me because his hands were full. I laughed at him when he apologized for being unable to hold it, and told him I thought chivalry and things like that were sort of dead, so I didn't really mind. He said it still existed as long as he is around.
Sometimes I miss the days when things were all cute like that. But then again, I wouldn't want a knight in shining armor bopping other knights with lances. Psh. I'm not sure what to think--on one hand I'm perfectly capable of handling plenty of things on my own; on the other hand, sometimes I feel a little taken aback when people don't wait an extra 2 seconds to hold the door. I guess I can think about that another day though.
I think the year before that my Calc teacher gave us little moon pies, maybe? And I had a marvelous conversation with a boy named Adam about pi day and his debate tournaments/radio things until ~3AM, unless that was the year before that year. My years are sort of blending in now.
So I got back from my trip to the Everglades actually late Friday night; I spent (technically) yesterday doing little things like recycling, groceries, calling the family, and then a little spring cleaning. I'll write about that trip later today though, because I'm getting tired--I was staying up so I could work on an Astronomy project that required for me to be up observing the night sky. It was pleasant, but rather cold still. ><!
Edit--I don't know how I forgot, but I spent pi day last year visiting Jason. >< We made chemical apple pie together, and I did a bunch of spring cleaning for him. Oh joy!

22/7 = Pi
...omg it is pi day!! lol
The only pi day i have celebrated was in grade 8, my math teacher being one with a PhD in math, she was WAAAAY into it. We had a pi recital contest, i think i can recite 20 digits or so of it. Here goes (not checking google) 3.141592653589793238462338327... and it goes on. =/. I came in second place, to my dismay. Some guy got 120 digits.
ooooo!! 3.142....
As long as bopping other knights with lances is like it was in A Knight's Tale I will do it all day long
Did you make any pies then?
. :O your calc teacher giving you moon pies, so generous! They're quite expensive...
.
That astronomy project sounds really fun though
Thanks. I feel much better. Just a little hobbling. PI PI PI. That made me hungry.
Don't catch a cold on these last days before spring comes!
how nerdy
Chemical apple pie? What's that? o.o
that's one awesome pi pie! heheheh :]
ha ha ha pi day. xD i rememebr celebrating that in hs.
say you on the top blogs thing.
Whee! I actually have never fully celebrated pi day. I remember one person made pies and brought them to lunch but it was gone rather quickly so I wasn't able to get a slice. It actually looked exactly like the pies in your banner! Last pi day I went to the beach because it was also over spring break :]
Excellent PI day.
= )
RYC: Thanks for your thoughts on my project. You're right about the immediacy of today's technology. Our brains don't think at the same level.

I had a conversation about chivalry versus women being independent with my friend from education class. She is, for the lack of a better description, a very liberal feminist. She was explaining to me her point of view of how she doesn't want men to do things for her because she doesn't want to be viewed as weak and a powerless woman. I thought about what she said for a little bit then replied that when I hold the door open for her or try do something gentlemen like it's not that I don't think she can do it, but it's because I care for her as a friend (:
Chivalry may or may not be dead, but common courtesy and care is not and shouldn't be considered dead.
What is chemical apple pie, and if I eat it, will I become a Ninja Turtle? XD
I never really celebrated Pi Day but I wish I had...good excuse to enjoy yummy pies!
Welcome back from the Everglades (:

Thanks, you too. I did wear green. I saw a bunch of people wearing green going to the parade while hobbling to work. LOL. I think some of them were already drunk.
You teach me Melinda because I don' t remember we celebrate pi Day in France . Figure when I read your post I googled and I learnt a lot of things about be or re- learnt . It is incredible when you don' t practice much the mathematics and sciences .

You are éa brillant student but also a great romantic girl . This is perfect .
yes the knights certainly still exist !
In friendship
Michel
You know I actually forgot about Pi day. No one in my calculus class or any other class for that matter mentioned it. I remember that at 1:59 the value is exact to seven decimal places =) Just too bad I'm five days late -_-
Yeah Texas would definitely bring warm and hot weather. I don't know how I'm going to handle the humidity if I end up there. Hmm.
Mu Alpha Theta = MATh?
