  • Who needs scrambled eggs when you can have scrambled thoughts?

    (Random update)
(& just kidding, I love eating scrambled eggs :) , even with scrambled thoughts).

–The mail room smells wonderful; didn’t get any mail though :[
--My mail-box is terrible.  It is too tall for me, so I have to tip toe to try to see the numbers when turning the lock/combination thing.  Can they offer a booster for shorties please?  :'(
--Got hit by the door on the way out of the mail room (tired? or maybe just pathetic) o_x

--Was productive again tonight, updating the UGRB website, finally, though I'm still waiting on a lot of information before I can seriously update it.
--Was in the library for a few hours; until they put some message on loop.  The library is now open 24/5.  (I think minus weekends?).  But that's actually a lie.  Only the first floor is open 24/5.  So the message telling us to relocate was on loop and it was loud and annoying.  Meh.  And there's not very much space on the first floor to work, so I decided to leave.  Now I'm being unproductive.  Eh.
--Dumb decision of the day: drank coffee on semi-empty stomach (had a double chocolaty chip frap before that).  Heh.  My stomach was sort of noisy in the library.  Didn't help that it was quiet in there for once.  Fortunately I chose a semi-empty/cozy corner. :)
--The cubicle thing I was in was one I had sat in before!  It has [ir]religious graffiti on it (people scribbling back and forth about God/lack thereof.  I think that’s the third time I’ve ended up at that booth, which is weird because it seems like the booth/cubicle is being shifted around then?  It was weird to look at since someone drew eyes that stared at me, and devil horns.  Fortunately I opened my computer so I couldn’t see it anymore.
–It’s kinda weird to see religious/non debates when I’m still in the process of thinking this stuff through.  But I’m taking it slowly/easily.  I like reading some of the stuff in the book of Proverbs :) , regardless of faith, wisdom can still be found:

“It is not good to have zeal without knowledge, nor to be hasty and miss the way” Proverbs 19:2

       …

–Failed the first o-chem quiz of the semester!  Ugh not again!!  Yay…(FML).  Exam in less than a week.  FML!!!!!!

On the brightside, some things are working in my favor:
–My group for sea kayaking meets next week instead of this week
–I have a Red Cross mtg tomorrow, so that means I can actually go there early to help set-up etc.!
–Personal reasons O_o (would be classified TMI)
–My First-Aid group is going tomorrow
–That means I don’t have to go to class on Monday –> I can have more free time Monday to cram for o-chem exam!!

–I love my astronomy class!!  And Excel! :)   We made model planets to scale and had to walk across school to try to make the distance to scale too.  Well, we didn’t have ways to measure other than with a 1-ft ruler, so we decided to just approximate everything.  I didn’t realize how tiny Mercury was, relative to Earth; and everything is so far away!!  The stuff I learn in class just blows my mind.  I mean a lot of it isn’t new, but I can’t help feeling really small [and insignifcant..].  I think that the existence of other life in other solar systems (or whatever) is definitely plausible, given the magnitude of the universe, but I guess I never thought about the amount of time it would take to reach those places.  Thus, the chances of us meeting those “aliens” are pretty slim.  That could be good or bad (if you read “A Wrinkle in Time” you might be like me and actually think some of them would be really nice/nurturing/pleasant to meet :) ).  In a way, though life is teeming on Earth, it is kind of a lonely existence.
–BTW, there is this AWESOME program called “Stellarium“.  It is free to download and pretty much shows you real time information about where there stars are at your specific location (if you give it your coordinates or type in the city you’re in), and gives you information about specific planets or stars, constellations, etc.!  :)
–Couldn’t help but to think, if I end up not getting married/and/or having kids, then maybe I’ll spend a bunch of my money to buy an awesome projector or a few, and project images from that program or something like that.  Like a miniature personal planetarium or whatever they’re called.  (:  I guess kids might like that too though, so maybe even if I do end up hitting up that path…

    Future = ?????????

–With my extra model magic, I made a few things:

    snailpot

–Someone has been watching me type; it’s been really awkward:

    creepydolphin

(Lol.  And you can see me cheating with time right?  So I write my entry on Notepad so it doesn’t subtract from my 30 minutes of Xanga?)  When I was little dolphins were my favorite of animals for a while.  One of the first clay sculptures/things I made was actually a dolphin.  It’s snout/nose didn’t survive the kiln, so it might’ve been thrown away (it’s tail and flippers probably didn’t either…so I probably just had a grey barrel, lol.  Fail!).

–Been not as good about keeping up with Xanga lately because I’ve been busy/stressed & slightly bummed (thinking too much, you know?). Been catching up in spurts, or trying to!
–I think I’m going to delete some of the “Friend”s on Xanga who I don’t interact with but post a lot a lot.  Not trying to be hostile, just trying to shower more attention on my real Xanga-friends :) …less spamsie stuffs.

  • random updates are the best.

it’s hilarious that people would scribble arguments for/against God in the form of graffiti on walls. (though, knowing myself, i’d probably be tempted to pick up a marker and join in). and yeah, Proverbs has some great words of wisdom, for the Everyman.

i think i have stellarium on my ipod! thoughh i’m not sure that’s what it’s called.

  • When I was a kid and hit my growth spurt I didn’t really adapt to how wide I was and when I went around corners I kept banging my shoulder on the edge. I don’t run into doors very often any more, though.

Did you ever think of painting your ceiling with glow in the dark stars?

  • that stellarium site is awesome. now i can look at the sky on computer all day long! i love how you’re into astronomy and everything. have you ever been to a planetarium?

  • First of all, I love scrambled eggs too less so than scrambled thoughts, but when you do have scrambled thoughts, why not eat something yummy to distract you, right?

*I feel your pain when it comes to the door whacking you. I once opened a door into my face and I got a cut on my nose :( No one was around, thank goodness. It was super embarrassing >__<.

*My horrible library story–didn’t deal so much with tummy rumbling noise, but smell x__x. Before I went to do research at the library for my long research paper, I went to an Indian restaurant with my sister for dinner. When we were at the Indian place, the chefs made something in the kitchen that reallly smelled, and the smell just wafted out to us (this wasn’t even our food that did the wafting haha). When we got to the library, the computer stations were packed, but we were able to find two different stations opposite each other. I was kind of worried that odor of the Indian food was too embedded into our clothing and people would notice because this “smell” of Indian food didn’t want to leave us and it followed us from the restaurant lol. I’m telling you, this computer area was jam packed! I was hoping no one would notice the strong smell, but uhmmm…haha…after a few minutes, the area cleared quickly >___<. I was super embarrassed! I had even taken off my sweatshirt hoping my t-shirt underneath wouldn’t smell, but it was still there. After a while, I couldn’t stand the embarrassment and I just left lol. Also, when we were ordering the bread at the restaurant, we decided that didn’t want to order garlic naan because we didn’t want to smell bad in the library…a lot of good that did us! :(

*Aside from cubicle graffiti, bathroom graffiti can be pretty interesting too! The space in between tiles is known as grout, and people write grout related things like “Grout Expectations” or “Twist and Grout” or “The Grout Wall of China” and “Oscar the Grout” and other phrases that grout could be substituted in. I often enjoyed looking for new grout phrases haha, it was pretty interesting. Of course, most of the time bathroom graffiti isn’t nice, but sometimes it can be thought provoking.

*Speaking of religious verses, I like “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.”
-Romans 1:21 :) It reminds me to be humble.

*I know many people who have not done well in O-Chem, so don’t feel too bad. Just use this to inspire you to do better on the next one. I’m sure you will kick lots of O-Chem butt! =)

*Ooooo I want to try kayaking some day. And try sculpting. I would sculpt a turtle :D

*I really loved my astronomy class too. I learned sooo much and it really is mind boggling how the earth is so tiny compared to our solar system and how our solar system is so tiny compared to other systems and so on. I really like how distance is measured in time and how something we see (like an explosion in space) may have happened hundreds or thousands of years ago but we are only seeing it now. I like the idea of a black hole and an alternate universe. I totally have to check out Stellarium :) .

*You never know, when you buy all these cool things like a miniature planetarium or a really cool telescope maybe you will find someone that shares your love for astronomy or who is equally passionate about it, and you know, fall in love with that person =). You never know right?

*Whatever it is that is keeping you bummed and stressed and thinking too much, I hope it goes away soon and that things get better for you =).

  • dolphins!*likes*

  • You’re doing a lot better than I am in the Xanga world lol…my last post is pretty ancient.

The snail thing is pretty awesome…I really like the swirly motif.  And that dolphin looks like it’s working extra hard to cling on to your laptop.

Man, reading this entry makes me miss the days of taking fun classes! Seriously, not that I think you would, but don’t take it for granted, ’cause those days will be over in no time! :O

  • waa the dolphin is so cute!!! it’s like leaning over your laptop going like wee wee….if that makes any sense. yea i have stellarium on my computer but i can never figure it out?? i’m sure you didn’t fail your quiz. probably asian failed it:) mmm yea! in college you get to take all these cool courses. like astronomy! i guess it’s an elective? i kinda want to take paleontology if the school offers it as well.

yea and Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
that’s my favorite from Corinthians although i’ve seen different versions of it.

yea and i have read the little prince. it’s one of my favorite books. it’s one of those books where you can reread and revisit over and over again and get something different out of it. kind of like a wrinkle in time. gosh that was a longgg time ago.

  • To get your mail is a true adventure , Melinda .
I can only congratulate you for your perseverance in the work things .whatever the matter : chemistry and astronomy etc .. I know an astronome on Xanga . I will link you .
besides you use your spare time for interesting activies .
Not getting married  in the future ? Impossible .

ps ;1) the coffee early in the morning is not agreed by all of the people . Sometimes he leads to a musical belly !
          2) The book of Proverbs ? Excellent .  Finally the Bible tells much if we take time to reflect and interpret it in the present context .
     This is an inspired book.

  • here is the link of the astronome xangan :http://mlbncsga.xanga.com/
Check her post of Saturday , january 9.

  • I mean January 16 . Did I have scramnled thoughts ?

  • Morning Glorie…Don’t you just love Michel Fauquet?  He recommended I come over – I’m mlbncsga and I do love the heavens – I’m working on getting your stellarium downloaded…if my footprints at your site are heavy that is why.  I’m not the most computer savy person but I know I will love it.  I sub to a site called Sky & Telescope – it emails me the weekly sky updates – I like it alot too  http://www.skyandtelescope.com/.  and really and truly – I like scrambled thoughts more than scrambled eggs anyday :)    NIce to meet you !

  • Rough week you’re having there. :( It’ll get better.

I liked reading the crazy graffiti people have on desks or tables. Takes away from all the craziness I was having in my life. Sometimes I would respond to the scribbles too, although I don’t expect anyone taking the time to write back. LOL.

If you do get a chance to come to NYC, check out the Hayden Planetarium, it’s pretty awesome. :)

  • Oh hush, you will for sure get married and have beautiful children. You’re a good one!

  • puahaha…the first half of your post made me go “awww” i’ll send you mail…it’ll be a booster step

  • @nyclegodesi24 -  :D

Graffiti is an interesting medium. On one hand it’s like defacing things, so why would people want to write good things they believe in in that kind of manner? But at the same time it can be like art :)

There are so many AWESOME apps these days…making use of the GPS stuff in iPhones etc. maybe I should check if it will also work on iTouch? :)

  • @phantomFive - HAHAHA, omg! When I was in 6th grade they made us read this awkward passage about how that happens when as we were growing and that it was nothing strange. I just remember back then not being able to get past the idea of running into doors XD…But I guess it was true then!

Right now my room at home is just white-ish, but I do have constellations not painted but taped on the ceiling. It’d be fun to paint it, but then I would want the ceiling to be dark too, but I don’t like dark rooms, so I prob can’t do that :[

  • @MomoLikesChoco -  I agree!! (:! It’s really neat! And it has this thing where you can make it so that you can “See” through the ground…that way you can see constellations that can’t be seen in the Northern hemisphere, or the stars that are kinda under your feet! :D

I got to go to them sometime when I was little and going on vacations/to museums :D They also used to bring little tent like things with star projectors to some science camps I went to as a kid, so all us kids would be in a giant bubble like thing (ever did that too? :D ??). :D I’m glad they did stuff back then to stimulate our interest in learning :D

  • @cal_islander - Oh yes! I haven’t had them in a while. Maybe I should eat them whenever I do have scrambled thoughts!

Aww…yeah every time I do something embarrassing to/with myself I have to look around to see if anyone noticed, heh. -_- *facepalm!!!* Lol!!! Glad you’re okay though! That sounds pretty painful x_x!

Aww shucks!! I love love loooove Indian food, but yeah, some of the spices/foods do smell different, so to speak mildly. Awww, but I’m sorry to hear that!:[[[…at least it wasn’t a chronic thing so it only happened once >_>…

WOW!! That’s so clever! I’ve never seen any grout graffiti! But I really like the examples you gave; haha, :D ! But you’re right, a lot of bathroom graffiti is obscene. O_o O_o O_o Lol.

Hmm! That’s a pretty nice verse! I know for a few weeks last semester I tried getting one new verse each week and I’d make a point to think briefly about it each day, or to try to improve myself accordingly :) . Maybe I should start again with that.

I’ll probably be studying hard this weekend! Ughhhhhhhhh! But I feel really good when I’m productive/when I start understanding things. So maybe that will motivate me too, right? :D

Aww you should try those things!! :D They’re both harder than it would seem though. But heyyy..you’re right by the sea! I’m sure you could have good access to some kayaks? Maybe a day trip on a weekend or something? Or if there are any rivers near by, that might be better than open waters :) ! Are turtles your favorite? :D I really like turtles too! They’re adorable! :D

Astronomy *is* super exciting. I’m really glad I’m taking the class! :D :D :D ! My first memories relating to astronomy was my dad taking me and my siblings out at night to look at different constellations or meteor showers with hot chocolate. I kinda went crazy with my astronomy interest around 4th and 5th grade, which was about when I started using the internet to surf a lot, hehe. I used to have a lot of the statistics from nineplanets.org memorized and I loved reading about the diff numbers of moons and etc. :D Now there are only 8 planets :[[[ (are you pro or against Pluto?). My astronomy teacher told us this joke: “Pluto was the only planet found by an American; and since everyone hates Americans they decided that Pluto should not be a planet” (or something like that…I always ruin jokes when I try retelling them :[ ). Looking into space is like looking into the past. So weirdddd! When I was little I checked out the same book from the library maybe 4 times because they had an article on wormholes, which boggled my mind (and still does? not that I know much about them anyways >_>). :D

n_n, true true! Maybe he’s out there wishing on the same stars as I am :) . That’d be nice…probably won’t be searching from my class though. I found out that a lot of the people taking it are just taking it because it’s one of the “easy” science electives at my school :[. Meh.

Thanks for the thoughtful/interesting comment (as usual!) :) ! Always enjoy hearing from you! & thanks…I’m feeling a bit better lately. Prob because I’m doing a better job focusing :) . School should keep me busy for now! *whew* (but it is also increasing my stress, ahhh, it’s a win-lose situation!) lol.

  • @s_h_a_sha -  :D ! what’s your favorite animal(s)!! :) ???

  • @phosphor_stars - </dogs!!!!!anything really dont hate animals :P

  • @a_drunken_cellist -  (: haha, yeah it is pretty ancient. Pharm school + activities keeping you on your feet? Still running or cycling, btw?

Thanksss. I was actually using the paper towel roll behind it to help keep it in place, hehe.

Ahh, I knowwww :[[[, my cousin in med school keeps reminding me that too. I think he told me 4 times in *one* night. Makes sense–hope to squeeze in a little marine bio before I leave!! But most of my interest is in science anyways, so I’m sure I’ll be pretty excited even then :) ! :) ! :) ! YAY!! How do you feel about pharm school? I mean I know you miss the other subjects D:, but maybe it’s like those marathons you run..? Hard work & rewardingish, and something you wanted to do anyway? (:?

  • @sunday_dreams - Haha, thank youuu! :D ! Aww, I haven’t really used it much since downloading it since school/clubs have been keeping me busy, but if I figure anything out I’ll keep you posted :) . …haha, I wish I “asian-failed” the quiz..! See, with all my other classes “fail”=”asian-fail”, but with organic, “fail”=”fail”, for me anyways. D:!

(Yeah, I’m taking astronomy as an elective :) !..yay!!!) Ooooh, paleontology! :D If so, hopefully that school will be close to a place where you guys can take trips..! In elementary school in one of my “gifted” classes, we got to go to a limestone quarry to dig for fossils. Since FL used to be underwater, the stuff we recovered was old fossilized marine life, mostly sea-biscuits and sea shells, but sometimes sea urchins (without spines) and maybe sand dollars too! :) :) :) It was pretty exciting back then; hopefully you can get a chance to do something like that n_n!

Ah, yeah, those verses from Corinthians are also really good. (: Haha, I know I’m pretty grouchy sometimes -_-’, so sometimes I try to think about that and learn to be more patient and stuff like that. It’s hard…lol.

Me toooo! The Little Prince makes me want to keep my inner-kid & dreams alive (: it’s so cute & meaningful. Wish more books came with illustrations these days! :) Haha, those books were from eons ago! But they’re still good to re-read now :3! :) :) :)

  • @mlbncsga - Nice to meet you too! Yes, Michel is one of my favorite people I have met on Xanga! :)
& Thanks for the link! I’ll look into it after I get past my upcoming exams! :) ! I’ll just bookmark it for the time being!:)

Scrambled thoughts often lead to a good laugh :D , I’d generally prefer them too! Except I am very hungry right now! (Haha :) )

  • @Roadlesstaken - Hahaha, sure hope so! You too, def! We just gotta wait! & be patient, yeah? Thanks for the confidence in me, hehe :) :) :)

  • @h20poloplayinsurfer - Haha, yes please! I can use it! :) !! LOL!! Maybe I’ll wear heels next time I get my mail, then maybe my hand won’t be in my line of vision blocking out the lock/combination numbers, hahaha. (:

  • RYC :I am glad Melinda , you met mlbncsga .
    In friendsip
    Michel

  • lol I didn’t run into doors I ran into the edges of doors! Big difference!! lol

Some people paint the stars on their ceiling with glow in the dark paint so when the lights are off you can see them. I keep on thinking of doing that, but haven’t yet.

  • hahaha yea i’ve never been on any fossil excavating trip and my parents refused to buy me those dinosaur fossil boxes so i guess it’ll be a chance to do something i never got to do!
omg yea! i used to have glow in the dark stars on my ceiling. they were cool. except they were these plastic stars and you could glue them on.

  • I love turtles . I have a collection of turtles–most of them are from friends so they’re really special and the other ones are some that I have found in places I’ve visited. My turtle story also has to deal with my friend (who is pictured in my current post): One day, I was walking with her when her dad called. She explained to him (in Chinese hehe) that she was walking with her friend named Hedwig and her dad misheard or supposedly my name sounds like the word for turtle, and her dad said, “You’re friends name is Turtle?!” After that, we just call each other Bunny and Turtle :) Haha also too, when I was younger, I loved TMNT and had a pet turtle. I think I was destined to be a turtle :)

What is your favorite animal? :D

I think Pluto should be a planet again. It doesn’t make sense to change something we’ve known for many years. Plus, Pluto is the little guy of the planets. He represents all the little people of the world, and shows that no matter how small you are, you can still run with the big planets :) I remember learning in astronomy that the asteroid belt between near Pluto (I think its there hehehe, I forget :( ) was actually another planet that exploded…wow, to think that there was another planet out there once upon a time is so cool. To think that the sunlight we have now was sent many years ago and is only reaching us now. So cool :)

What is your favorite planet? :D

  • So I read this a while ago and I forgot to write something. Now, I don’t really remember but I really like what you made with the extra model stuff! Are you going to make it colorful like the model planets?

Speaking of which, I was walking by the health buildings and saw “Jupiter [dont remember the number]m” written on the sidewalk. Was that your group?

Good luck studying!!! I need to do all of that toodayyyy :/ Review of orgo 1 as well…Memory fail!!

  • @shortstuff3157 - Sory for delayed response..! I’ve been so Xanga-lazy/spending free time only on cards, lol. PS–I think I’m gonna make us some brownies for Valentine’s, maybe for either Wed, Thurs, or Fri? I’m leaning towards W/Th, though since Friday=lab day so I prob won’t have any sleep Th night. :D Maybe a slightly early semi-celebration? Miloni would be excited, except I’m not telling her, hehe. Surprise?

Mmm, I haz a lot of extra model stuff! If you’d like to come over and makes stuffs sometimes you are welcome to! Mm, I’m not sure about coloring them right now. I think I killed one of my Sharpies doing that, or maybe I killed it on one of my V-Day cards :, but I also am not in the mood for stained fingers right now, hehe. Though I think making them colorful could make them potentially cuter…maybe if I buy a new set of markers? :D ?

Hehe, my group stretched from MSC to the end of that one road that goes to the front entrance (can’t remember what it’s called?). We actually did not do a very good job scaling it, hehe. We guess-timated the distances, and realized we were way off…Lol. All we had was a ruler, and 1 ruler = approx 1/3 a meter, and some of the distances were hundreds of meters away…Psh…too much work, lol.

Ahhh memory!!!!!!!! :( !!!!!!! It’d be nice if our brains could retain this stuff…we *only* had a month off…ish.

  • @phosphor_stars -

ACK so I keep forgetting that Valentine’s is coming up. I will start making…something haha. There’s also the party this saturday [What are you getting him?! I'm clueless]

  • @shortstuff3157 - Yeah, sneaky holiday >_>…I’m so tired from card making, but I bought some chocolate.

Ahh, I’m clueless too!!!!! O_O!!! Maybe we can do some talking on Wedn to try figuring something out??? We were gonna try to pick his brain to see if he could give any clues, but we had very low success…plus it’s hard to be subtle, & if asked directly he’d prob say not to worry about it, lol. Mehhh!!!!!
