childhood tid bits
(Brief study break O_~)
So when I was really young, one of my first piano teachers used to have these incentive charts that she would give us, and with each week of good practice, or good job with music theory, etc. we would earn a little sticker to put in one of the cells. After filling a certain number of rows or sheets (I can't really remember), we would be able to exchange it for some music related goodies, whether they were little paper clips with music notes, or other oddities (i.e. miniature music dictionary/pamphlet). It was really exciting for me as a kid!
So yesterday on my trip to Target with my roomie Christina & friend Miloni, I found this in the dollar section:
The incentive chart for piano lessons weren't as wide, but was longer (maybe a 5x5 chart). But this made me really excited so I got some for myself. (I know, lame! I am how old?)
Well, check out my current chart (parents will approve, though maybe only partially):
I probably shouldn't motivate myself with food, but you gotta do what you gotta do for a Klondike bar!
(just kiddin'! Sort of.) I actually haven't hit up the gym yet this semester, so it's not like I can add any stickers yet. Not to mention there are no Klondike bars in the fridge (no! I did not eat them already/prior to making chart! Though maybe after next time I go to the groceries there will be...).
As a kid, I loved perspective. I had this habit, during nap time, to stare at the corners of the wall/ceiling:& try and see it as an extruding and intruding cube. I liked playing tricks on my eyes and head.
I made a poster today. Yay, orgo exam (Monday; all orgo kids are in a frenzy at the present; except those who are going to the football game--what the heck!?)

Lol! that is a very nice corner...
ahhh, so that's what that status was talking about! I'm still laughing at the fact you're using Klondike bars to motivate you.

lol and the first klondike bar is 7 trips to the gym away! not to mention the gym is a 15-20 minute walk from where I live...:(

haha, empty and pristine, unfettered by random clutter/decoration (mostly due to laziness; more decoration --> more packing at the end of the year.)
fun
this reminds me of the commercial: what would you do for a klondike bar?
@nepenthium -
maybe if I submit this idea to them they'll give me a few for free!
!!
j/k
@phantomFive -
ambiguous!
Not, it's all fun. OK, your orgo exam is probably less fun than the others, but the fact that it can be twisted into something dirty sounding kind of makes up for it.
Too bad getting a chart didn't actually motivate you to exercise. Maybe you need to put Xs instead of stickers. Xs would motivate me.
@phantomFive -
yeah, orgo exam has been the bane of my weekend!
is it because of the feelings that come with X-ing things out? I guess stickers seem very calm and passive while X-ing can be vicious, if necessary
.
Not vicious! It is bold and strong and satisfying. But not hurting anyone.
That picture of the room corner is really interesting...never though about trying to see it that way. I'd have to squint my eyes and block out other stuff in my field of view to begin to picture it as the corner of a cube though. But if I did that, I'm sure I'd get some weird looks.
Btw, your nerve-cell pizza cross section and acetonitrile with
pictures were hilarious
I finally had a klondike bar

Oh yay! Lucky! That was your first one ever right? Did you like it?
I'm still at square three...4 more to go!
Next semester I'll get a lot more though, since I have a class at the gym once a week so I'll be forced to (:! Yay!!
Yeah, first one. I was surprised by how chocolaty it was. Anyway my suspicion is you need sleep more than exercise anyway ha
